There is much debate nowadays as to what makes up a healthy diet. For example, scientists have insisted for years that a high-fat diet is bad for us. However, there is increasing evidence that the real driver of poor health is sugar. Heart disease is the number one killer in the USA. In America, about 25 percent or more of daily calories come from sugars.

Much of this extra sugar comes from sweets and sweet drinks. The average American gets 1/3 of his or her sugar from sweet drinks alone. The American Heart Association recommends that we limit our sugar intake to less than 100–150 calories a day from sugar, which is less than what is usually contained in one can of sweet drink or one bar of candy. In other words, to be healthy, we must cut down on the amount of sugar we eat.

Beyond this, you can keep healthy by consuming different categories of fresh foods, especially fruit and vegetables, rather than processed foods. Compared to people who eat a lot of processed food, those who eat mainly fresh food are more likely to have a healthy diet. Also, some foods, such as beans, nuts and dairy products, provide us with the nutrients our bodies need.

Finally, a fundamental key to healthy eating is to eat slowly. It takes about twenty minutes from the time you start eating for your brain to tell your body that you are full. This means that people who eat too fast will often eat too much before they realize they are full. Eating slowly also allows your body to digest food better and absorb more nutrition. Besides, it can help you to enjoy the taste of your food more.

There is no one trick to healthy eating. Rather, healthy eating starts with having a healthy attitude towards food. You can ask yourself a question: “Am I eating to live, or am I living to eat?” If you eat primarily to fuel your body, then you have already taken the first step toward a healthier diet. If, however, food has become the centre of your life, you may be on the way to unhealthy eating habits.

1】There is much debate nowadays as to what makes up a healthy diet.
There is much debate (as to ...).
【分层】as to 意为"关于、至于",后接 what makes up a healthy diet 这一 what 宾语从句,作 debate 的定语。
【考点】there be 结构;as to + what 宾语从句。

2】However, there is increasing evidence that the real driver of poor health is sugar.
【主干】there is increasing evidence.
【分层】that the real driver ... is sugar 为同位语从句,解释 evidence 的具体内容;of poor health 为介词短语作后置定语修饰 driver。

3】The American Heart Association recommends that we limit our sugar intake to less than 100–150 calories a day from sugar, which is less than what is usually contained in one can of sweet drink or one bar of candy.
The Association recommends that we limit our intake ...
【分层】that 引导宾语从句(虚拟语气,limit 用原形);which is less than ... 100–150 calories;what is usually contained 为 what 从句作 than 的宾语。
【考点】recommend 后 that 从句用(should) do;which 非限制性定语从句;what 从句。

4】Compared to people who eat a lot of processed food, those who eat mainly fresh food are more likely to have a healthy diet.
【主干】those are more likely to have a healthy diet.
【分层】Compared to ...
【考点】过去分词作状语;who 定语从句(两处);more likely to do。

5】It takes about twenty minutes from the time you start eating for your brain to tell your body that you are full.
It takes about twenty minutes ... for your brain to tell your body.
【分层】It 为形式主语,真正主语是 for your brain to tell ...;from the time you start eating 为时间状语,其中 you start eating 为省略 that 的定语从句修饰 time;that you are full 为 tell 的宾语从句。
It takes ... for ... to do 句型;省略 that 的定语从句;that 宾语从句。

1. there be 的多种用法
There is much debate ...;there is increasing evidence ...;There is no one trick ...。there be 后可接 as to 短语或同位语从句。

evidence that the real driver ... is sugar, that

people who eat ...;those who eat ...;the time (that) you start eating。

(Compared to)
Compared to people ...,表"与……

Eating slowly allows ...(主语);starts with having ...(介词宾语);eating to live / living to eat(表语/对照)。

recommends that we (should) limit; If you eat primarily ..., then ...;If, however, food has become ...。

7. It takes ... for ... to do 句型
